We're really excited to be launching our new web site, with huge thanks to Sarah Willans of Zipfish.
Cinnamon Press has had the tagline: 'independent, innovative and international' for 13 years and those values are still very much at our core but, as we've become more confident and developed an increasingly clear vision of what a Cinnamon book is and of what makes us stand out, we also feel it's time to have a new tagline.
We believe in publishing books we feel passionate about. These are not defined by genre but by their unique ability to say something real, books written by authors who value their craft and edited and designed with time and love.
Cinnamon is proudly different. We don't do social media; it's neither innovative nor supportive of independent thought. Instead, we value a community of readers and writers who don't so much buy our books and courses as participate in our story by investing their time and resources.
We've won and been shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year, been shortlisted several times for The Saboteur Awards and the Not the Booker Prize, longlisted for the Edge Hill Short Story Award, and many other prizes. However, we think readers who love our books trump awards every time.
Cinnamon is based in a quirky house in North Wales and is run by a small, family (and extended family) crew. This is an extraordinary place. The internet dawdles and life is slower here than in many places we visit. Between editing and designing books slowly and with lots of care, we bake bread, make yoghurt, and Seth serves up slow-drip coffee with banana oat pancakes at crew meetings. Michelle handwrites the envelope of every direct order to the web site and we personally launch the books around the country.
We've been publishing gorgeous books of poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction for thirteen years and it's as exciting today as it was when we started. We're also clear that in a faster and faster world, real books from indie presses with values they try to live by, lovingly designed and written by writers with unique voices, are increasingly important. These books make a difference by being in the world — hence the new tagline:
Small miracles from distinctive voices
Thank you for supporting us this far and we hope you'll keep reading our books to keep the miracles flowing.
