Candling the Eggs by Sally Douglas
First full-length collection of poetry from award winning poet.
Candling the Eggs is Sally Douglas’s first poetry collection and won the Cinnamon Press 2009 Poetry Award. The poems in this collection are precise, lyrical and beautiful, sometimes disquieting and strange, often pushing at the boundaries of language and into silence. This is a mesmerising and accomplished collection.
Sally Douglas was born in Cornwall. She read English and European Literature at Warwick University. She lives in Devon with her husband and whichever of her three children happen to be home at the time. She does most of her writing in coffee shops or at the dining room table in the middle of the night. Poems and short stories have appeared in magazines such as Smiths Knoll, The Rialto, Envoi, Orbis and Interpreter’s House, and in anthologies from Cinnamon Press and Leaf Books.
