Available Light

Available Light is a superb collection featuring translations of Russian poet Lyubov Sirota:

Estill Pollock's tenth poetry collection, Available Light, is shaping up to be not only one of the best poetry collections that will appear in 2007, but also a collection that brings to our attention the people of Pripyat, the city most affected by the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl.

In addition to a series of fine new poems from Estill Pollock, the final sequence of the book 'Resurrection Suite' features beautifully crafted translations of Sirota's poignant poetry on the fate of Pripyat, interspersed with chilling diary accounts of the Chernobyl disaster as it progressed.

Although suffering terrible health effects from the accident Sirota and her son, Sasha, continue to campaign indefatigably to have Pripyat recognised as an international museum to the world's biggest accident. Their aim is that the disaster should not be forgotten, but the city become a monument to hope.

Please download and send the petition which Lyubov and Sasha are sponsoring & please buy Available Light (published February 2007) and read Lyubov's amazing account translated with Estill Pollock's inimical lightness of touch.
